• The Scupham Sonnet is noted at Vol Central as not a "proper" sonnet, probably because of the lack of prescribed pivot. It was created by British poet Peter Scupham and uses the Scupham Stanza.
  
  The Scupham Sonnet is:
• a quatorzain made up of 2 Schupham stanzas (sixains) followed by a rhymed couplet.
• metered, iambic pentameter.

• no prescribed place for a pivot but most good poetry naturally has a pivot or turn someplace within the poem.

Peter Scupham likes abccba stanzas. Two of these plus a rhyming couplet make something very like a sonnet. This is not a "proper" sonnet, strictly speaking, but I think of it as a Scupham Sonnet. (This is not a standard name).

Doggonnet

This form was invented by Larry Eberhart, aka Lawrencealot on AP.

It was spawned by the apparent fixation contest hosts had with brevity at the time.

This is what would be called a "gadget" sonnet.

They rhyme scheme is that of an English Sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg

All lines are six syllables.

REQUIRED:

Two of the quatrains MUST be iambic trimeter.

The other quatrain MUST be trochaic trimeter.

The couplet may be either meter.

Of course we want to search for our next meal

yet all my stomping may attract a seal.

you say, "So what? That's not a biggy deal."

This method causes quickly, a commotion.

I backslap you with one nice friendly motion

and voila! there's our entry to the ocean.

I found my solution to be quite neat.

It's quicker than my using my two feet.

A further development of (D.D. Michaels)  Quaintrelle form by Marcy Jarvis, aka ea on Allpoetry.com

it is a sonnet written as follows:

* Three four-line stanzas with syllable counts of 8, 8, 8, 6 in each stanza, written in iambic meter.

* The third line in each stanza contains internal rhymes on the 4th and 8th syllables in that line.

* The rhyme scheme for the first two stanzas is aa(bb)c dd(ee)c. 

* The rhyme scheme for the third stanza is ff(gg)h. (Alternatively, the h line may rhyme with the c lines.)

* The final two lines have 8 syllables each, are in iambic meter, and rhyme as a couplet: ii.

This is a sonnet form created by Mark A. Whittington-Buckley, aka Stormy22 on Allpoetry.

This is a stanzaic sonnet consisting of 3 quatrains and a couplet

The rhyme pattern is abcc deff ghii jj

It is normally written in iambic pentameter

But the poet may choose trochaic , (the poet may also choose to pen in tetrameter)

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (born April 5, 1947) is a Filipino politician who served as the 14th President of the Philippines from 2001 to 2010, as the 12th Vice President of the Philippines from 1998 to 2001, and is currently a member of the House of Representatives representing the 2nd District of Pampanga. She was the country's second female president (after Corazón Aquino), and the daughter of former President Diosdado Macapagal.

  

The PGMA rhyme scheme has been renamed Gloria cum Noynoy Italianic rhyme scheme in memory both of Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her successor Pres. Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III who was her student at Ateneo where she once taught.

When California raised the rate at which 

it taxes the "rich" it assured one thing. 

In Nevada, cash registers will ring.

These states will see a relative upswing. 

Increasing taxes simply won't enrich.

In every age some chosen few have ruled

despite the form of government in place.

Wyatt/Surrey Sonnet

Although the sonnet began in Italy in the 13th century, Thomas Wyatt 1503-1542, was one of the first English poets to translate and utilize the form. He used thePetrarchan octave but introduced a rhyming couplet at the end of the sestet. His friend the Earl of Surrey also initiated more rhyme.

The Italian form was restricted to 5 rhymes. After Wyatt and Surrey the sonnet could have 7 rhymes. They also shifted the sonnet away from the slightly more intellectual and argumentative Petrarchan form, and gave new importance to the ending, declamatory couplet. This Wyatt/Surrey adaptation of the sonnet has not been officially named, at least I haven't found an assigned designation yet. So for the sake of identification I call it the Wyatt/Surrey Sonnet.

The defining features of the Wyatt/Surrey sonnet are:
a quatorzain, written with a Petrarchan octave followed by an envelope quatrain ending with a rhyming couplet.
metric, primarily iambic pentameter.
the rhyme scheme is abbaabba cddc ee.
it is composed with the volta (non physical gap) or pivot (a shifting or tilting of the main line of thought) sometime after the 2nd quatrain.
distinguished by the declamatory couplet.

Sentient Sonnet (Wyatt/Surrey Sonnet)

The Petrarchan form stood intellectually
rigid for two hundred years, then it stretched.
Now five rhymes seemed not quite enough, so fetched
a couple more, yawned then moved experientially

the notions, bards awaited, hands out-stretched-

The defining features of the Wordsworth Sonnet are:
A quatorzain consisting of: octet  + quatrain + couplet

it is composed with the pivot or volta in the very last line.

Wordsworth embraced the Miltonic sonnet, but changed the second quatrain rhyme scheme to compensate for fewer rhyming opportunities in the English language.

Terza Rima or Diaspora Sonnet

The Terza Rima or Diaspora Sonnet, appeared in England in the 19th century. It makes use of the interweaving pattern and forward movement of the Italian Terza Rima. This variation of the sonnet is written in tercets with an interlocking rhyme scheme and concludes with a refrain or invocation in the form of a heroic couplet.

The defining features of the Terza Rima Sonnet are:
• a quatorzain, made up of 4 tercets and concluding with a rhyming couplet.
• metric, iambic pentameter.
• composed with a volta (a non physical gap) or pivot (a shifting or tilting of the main line of thought) sometime after the 2nd tercet.
• similar to the Spenserian Sonnet in which the poem progresses forward developing the metaphor, conflict, idea or question. The epiphany of the poem arrives logically in the couplet.
• rhymed with up to 6 rhymes with an interlocking rhyme scheme is
 aba bcb cdc ded ff.
• written so that the concluding rhyming couplet serves as a refrain or invocation.

The following I am adding on 10/05/12, as al alternative for I am suspect we shall find both versions
in the field.

Although purists state all sonnets should be Iambic Pentameter, any meter or line length may be used, as long as all the lines are of the same length and meter.
The rhyme scheme is that line 2 of each stanza rhymes with lines 1 and 3 of the following stanza, creating an interlocking pattern. In the final stanza, both lines rhyme with line 2 of the preceding tercet.
The Terza Rima sonnet has the following rhyme scheme,
A1. b. A2... b. c. b... c. d. c... d. a. d... A1. A2.

Spenserian Sonnet

A variation the English form is the Spenserian sonnet,
named after Edmund Spenser (c.1552–1599) in which the rhyme scheme is,
abab, bcbc, cdcd, ee
In a Spenserian sonnet there does not appear to be a requirement that the
initial octave set up a problem that the closing sestet answers, as is the
case with a Petrarchan sonnet.
Instead, the form is treated as three quatrains connected by the
interlocking rhyme scheme and followed by a couplet.
The linked rhymes of his quatrains suggest the linked rhymes of such
Italian forms as terza rima.

The Slide Sonnet is created be Victoria Sutton aka "PassionsPromise."  

Like most sonnets, it has 14 lines. 

It is composed with eight syllables to each line. 

The first half of the first line of each stanza “slides”
