Curtailed Quantrelle

A further development of (D.D. Michaels)  Quaintrelle form by Marcy Jarvis, aka ea on Allpoetry.com

it is a sonnet written as follows:
* Three four-line stanzas with syllable counts of 8, 8, 8, 6 in each stanza, written in iambic meter.
* The third line in each stanza contains internal rhymes on the 4th and 8th syllables in that line.
* The rhyme scheme for the first two stanzas is aa(bb)c dd(ee)c.
* The rhyme scheme for the third stanza is ff(gg)h. (Alternatively, the h line may rhyme with the c lines.)
* The final two lines have 8 syllables each, are in iambic meter, and rhyme as a couplet: ii.

Volta Optional     (Curtailed Quaintrelle)

What twisted thinking must I use
to try this form yet not abuse
the notion held that sonnets meld
a volta, or a twist?

I boldly pound this keyboard now,
I think I've found the lee just how
allowing me, somehow the glee
I'm apt not to resist!

I'll let this sonnet, as it should,
meander through here looking good,
then without fail, right here, curtail
a volta!  Pound my fist!

The Nevada Sonnet: is the same.
Internal rhyme with sonnet name.

PGMA Sonnet

The PGMA Sonnet was invented by Jose Rizal M. Reyes
on January 28, 2009 name in honor of:

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (born April 5, 1947) is a Filipino politician who served as the 14th President of the Philippines from 2001 to 2010, as the 12th Vice President of the Philippines from 1998 to 2001, and is currently a member of the House of Representatives representing the 2nd District of Pampanga. She was the country's second female president (after Corazón Aquino), and the daughter of former President Diosdado Macapagal.
Noted: 12/23/12

rhyming pattern: abba abba cddc dd

Example Sonnet

California Grows Nevada     (PGMA Sonnet)

When California raised the rate at which
it taxes the "rich" it assured one thing.
In Nevada cash registers will ring.
The small businesses won't just stay and bitch.

Some are bound to stay; many though will switch
to states nearby where taxes have less sting.
These states will see a relative upswing.
Increasing taxes simply won't enrich.

Thanks Wilson, for a few more jobs right here
in Nevada, it's appreciated.
Though Dems seem to think it's complicated,
it's really not, to me it is quite clear.

When their quest to tax is finally sated
We could end-up overpopulated.

Paulo Comitatu Sonnet

Paulo Comitatu means  "Little Train" in Latin.

This Sonnet was created by Lawrencelot, using the Paulo Comitatu poetry form designed by Allan R. Emery, aka Joe King on Allpoetry.

I think all credit for the form should go to him, after all I simply added a heroic couplet to his already existing work and expanded the metric options.

Jose Rizal M. Reyes of the Philippines,  has identified sonnets of the head, the heart, and the hand.

I believe Joe King has a reverence for the traditional sonnets of the head and heart, and therefore would not himself (I suspect) compose a "gadget" sonnet-  (those which Jose refers to as sonnets of the hand.)

I have no such reservation.  Here is a form that will lend itself well to levity, capriciousness, and mirth, simply because mono-rhyme plays to that arena, as does the late volta.

This sonnet is composed of 3 quatrains, the first line of each being iambic  pentameter or tetrameter, and  the next three being one foot less (tetrameter or trimeter).

The closing couplet is Iambic pentameter.

Rhyme scheme: abbb accc deee dd
